Diane Mensch |
cornet, leader |
Diane
plays the cornet and books the Paragon Band. She's a member of the Two Plus
Two Jazz Quartet and the San Diego Banjo Band. In bluegrass band, Diane
plays the autoharp. She enjoys entertaining at dances, private parties,
happy hours, and convalescent and retirement homes. Her other interests are
tennis, biking and skiing. |

Jim Fiedler |
clarinet |
Jim
is the Paragon Band's clarinet player.. He's a highly organized and skilled
musician. He also plays with the Bayside Dixieland Stompers, the
Uptown Rhythm Makers and the Two Plus Two Jazz Quartet. Jim is from
Northern California where his father is a well-known piano player. Although
he works full-time for the VA, Jim finds time to teach Tai Chi and do
some running and biking. He’s so
busy he always has his Palm Pilot with him to check his schedule. |

Anna Rowe

Paragon
Jazz Band's original and popular piano player, Anna is an excellent sight
reader and a loyal band member. She also plays with Ray Vinole's
workshop, Saints Band and Two Plus Two Jazz Quartet. After growing up in
Hawaii, she moved to San Diego with her Marine husband. This busy musician
sings with the Hawaiian Choir, entertains at convalescent and
retirement homes, and participates in aerobics. Her most frequent
expression is “Fine with me.” |

Bob Ohumukini |
bass, guitar |
Bob
is the original bass player with the Paragon Jazz Band. He also plays the
guitar and ukelele and sings. He has performed every type of music--
including blues, country, rock and Hawaiian. When he is not playing
music he is fixing roofs and helping with the Hawaiian Club. Bob grew up in
Hawaii, joined the Marines, moved around, then settled in San Diego. He
accompanies his wife Marie when she teaches
Hula dancing. His
favorite expression is “I have no idea.” |

Norman Berman |

Norman
is the drummer in the Paragon Jazz Band.Hailing from Chicago, Norman
studied with the same teacher as Gene Krupa. He also drums with the Klezmeds..
Dr. Berman is a neurologist working for a pharmaceutical company.He is also a
master punster. |

Everett Crouse

Everett has many years of experience with music.
His Navy career was spent playing in Navy Bands. After the Navy Everett taught middle-school music
in Pacific and then became the director of the Mission Bay High School Jazz Band. Everett
is on the Board of the America’s Finest City Dixieland Jazz Festival that produces the annual 5-day
November Festival at the Town and Country Hotel in San Diego. |

Bob career was as a musician in Navy bands. Now
retired from the Navy Bob is a U.S. Postal Worker. Since he’s worked there
for 30 years, he’s “senior” and is usually available to play music jobs. He plays tuba in Octoberfest and Mardi Gras bands. Besides his love of music, is a bowling
enthusiast. |
